Statement |
I
was in prison and you came to me ... Truly, I say
to you, to the extent that you did it unto one of
these...of mine, even the least of them, you did
unto me." "Whoever serves me must follow me; and
where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will
honor the one who serves me."
(Matthew 25:36, 40; John 12:26) The
vision of the Prison/Jail Aglow Prison Ministry
is to:
- To go wherever women
are incarcerated
- To tell the good
news of Jesus Christ
- To bring life and
hope through faith in Him
- To minister through
prayer and fellowship
- To love unconditionally
with the love of God
- To lead women into
praise and worship

Ministry reports
MINISTRY REPORT FROM TEXAS
You asked for a report on our prison ministry. We have a "team"
of five that is made up of some Aglow women and some women
from the local church. We minister on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
to women at the Carole Young Medical Facility of the Texas
Prison System in Texas City, Texas. On Tuesdays we do personal
ministry, inner healing prayer, and some Bible Study. We just
finished the Aglow study called "Shame: the Thief of
Intimacy", which was a real eye-opener for the women.
It is exciting to come to the end of the study and see them
sitting wide-eyed and not wanting to leave, just feeling at
peace and loved.
On Wednesdays we also offer Bible Study, and group prayer
time. We really have favor with the officers, who often let
us know who needs extra prayer, and which women are not well
enough to attend the study but need prayer in their rooms.
We are free to go into their rooms and sit down to pray or
talk. It is very different from the normal prison setting,
and gives us more opportunity to speak into their lives and
show how much we care.
On Thursdays, some members of the team go to the University
of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston where several
floors are designated for prisoners who are seriously ill.
There are usually three men or three women in a room. Often
we have to "suit up" in masks and robes and gloves
to enter rooms where there are serious infections. The inmates
are usually "right on the edge" emotionally, and
we always have salvations and many times have Baptisms in
the Spirit and emotional healing. We have also seen many healings,
and many "hopeless" situations turned around. God
works so powerfully in that setting that we can just "ride
the wave" and watch the anointing flow! We take Christian
literature into the rooms, and offer services like writing
a letter to a loved one for them if they are unable to do
that, or referring them to the Chaplain's office if there
are special needs.
I probably don't have to tell you that we get more out of
this than the inmates do!! We are sometimes blown away at
the awesome way that God works and it is such an honor to
be a part of this ministry. At the Texas City facility we
are able to mentor and disciple and see these women bloom
under God's hand. In Galveston we "buzz like bees",
depositing God's message into each one, knowing that they
will move on and we will not see them again, and yet their
lives are changed. We thank Him for the opportunity that He
has given us...to God be the glory!!
