Jesus set me free - Jill

From the beginning of my life I had such a feeling of despair, rejection & loneliness. I never knew why I was born, what my purpose to live was. Because of my pain I turned to alcohol, drugs, sex and crime at a very young age. Looking for love & fulfillment in all the wrong places.

By the time I was 20 I was a IV drug user and soon after married a abusive man. That man died from a drug related accident and my heroin addiction completely took over my life. I lost custody of our daughter, was in & out of jail, depression & suicide constantly haunted me. While I was in jail in 1983 waiting to go to prison a man came in to teach a bible study. I went to get out of my cell, but little did I know that it would change my life forever. This man told me about Jesus, how He came to set the captives free, how he loved me and that I was created special for a reason...To love and be loved by Him. I gave my life to Jesus that night in the dark of my cell, alone, just me and God, and He touched me and changed me. When I paroled from prison I was still walking with Jesus and met a man in church who had also given his life to the Lord in Prison. We married and I got my daughter Jessica back and we had a son Samuel.

I am so grateful to the Lord and to that man who was willing to come in give me hope that I didn't have to live in that terrible life anymore.
